and – test them on a separate system! My first major system crash was when an IBM model 95 developed a synchronous SCSI controller fault. Data was garbled writing TO disk or tape, and ungarbled reading FROM disk or tape.

All good until the controller failed and was replaced. The data on the disks were now unreadable. The data on the tapes matched that on the disks exactly – so also unreadable.

3 months work on the central file system, for 300 people, lost forever.

If your phone got NFC, perhaps this could be something?

Get some tags and make different settings depending on what tag you are close to. In the car? Turn on bluetooth and turn off wifi. On the night stand? Turn on vibration and/or turn off all alerts.
Seems to be a pretty useful functionality.

Now, don’t tell me those are the tires that originally came with the car. Either that or you’ve been drag racing.

I do have a car that I pretty much dumped in the backyard (part of the driveway) 3 years ago. The idea was to trade it in, but we never got around to it.
